The path for the recent eclipse followed the track of Lake Ontario so our County farm (located on the edge of the shoreline) was going to be in the heart of total darkness. With this in mind we made our way to the southern shore of PEC to view a once-in-a-lifetime event.
We were not disappointed. The blackened sky swept across the adjacent farm fields and raced over us as in a scene from an apocalyptic movie.
It was surreal—an“oh wow” moment! As dramatic as any water world wonder I have ever experienced in the ocean depths.
Amidst the expanse of the shrouded heavens I was reminded of a passage from the Psalter,
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me become night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the darkness is as light to you.(Psalm 139:11-12)
I was comforted by these thoughts intuiting that the Universe Maker travels with us and is on our side whether in the brilliance of light or the shadows of darkness. Abba’s fullness lies behind each phenomenon. And I can rest in the truth of his relentless love, for I know with the psalmist that even when “I come to the end—I am still with you” (Psalm 139:18).
It is true that we feel the weight of darkness sweeping over us at times. Yet even under such overcast days we are still held in the mighty hands of our compassionate Maker.
So true. Resting in the "Everlasting Arms" that comfort and hold me safely...in the dark and in the light.
Alan,
Great pic! We serve a mighty God, faithful and loving. Thanks for posting.
Cheers, 🙏
