Fall was late this year but when it came it came with a bang! A photo shot from James Gardens in Toronto captures a slice of its autumnal glory.
A rainbow of brightly coloured leaves—mesmerizing. Gracefully scattered on the earth by chance or by design (“Who knows how…” muses Hopkins).
It’s a time for reflection. A casual walk (not racing, counting steps!!). A moment for silent prayers winging heavenward.
A space for re-membering—looking back with gratitude and not remorse.
When I am in the fall season (literally or metaphorically), my mind drifts back to the voice of Eva Cassidy singing “Autumn Leaves.” Not an uptempo swing style often employed when interpreting this jazz standard, but a soulful, heart wrenching ode to love lost. Give it a listen.
In this waning fall season, give thanks for both your autumn echoes and present graces. We’ve been given far more than we deserve.
Wow Pastor Alan.....very bueatiful song❤️ Lord I'm amazed by You. I love fall too as it does brings reflection and prayer. The song well sum it up. After the hurried, this and that ups and down then winter song, which is the best season of it it. But while am amazed my heart is broken as so much homelessness, those who are lonely and the list goes on, so we prayer Father help us to gather for our winter song.
