After a couple of days on a peaceful northern lake the imprint of silence stills my soul. I hear the psalmist humming his tranquil refrain, “My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation” (Psalm 62:1).
Quiet my mind casts back to lines from Thomas Kelly,
For over the margins of life comes a whisper, a faint call, a premonition of richer living which we know we are passing by…we have hints that there is a way of life vastly richer and deeper than all this hurried existence, a life of unhurried serenity and peace and power. If only we could find the Silence which is the source of sound. (Thomas Kelly, A Testament of Devotion).
Silence is the source of sound.
(“The Sound of Silence” — sung by Paul Simon or Disturbed— echoes its essential quality.)
Moments of silence await you in these summer months—if you seek them out.
Listen and be calmed by the sounds of silence.
GM Pastor Alan, some of us do need that tranquility....Glad you did. 🥰 so I had some serious spiritual battles...anyways... Several persons spiritual and non believer would say " Only God can help me". Well before it discouraged me, but in my heart my Redeemer LIVES!!!!and His Name Jesus.
But somehow I got comfort in silence as only God can help....right?
Then one day the Holy Spirit whispers " if only God can help you . . It's means I'm a daughter and Only Abba will help.
So yes ....like David "waits in silence for God only". There are marvelous treasures He gives to us.....so I continue to wait.
Blessings Pastor Alan.❤️
