Stillness
A Quiet Heart
The savant of ancient days whispers that there a time for silence, quiet and still hearts. We as frenetic moderns need to hear her wise words:
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.” (Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 7b)
A time for quiet thoughts.
A time for silence.
A time for taking out your notebook and pencil and putting away the computer.
A time to pull back on doing and having and allow space for simply being.
Such “times” have the ability to quiet our spirits like a glistening sun on a still lake. To gaze out upon the flat seas…to calm our anxious minds…to soften our hard hearts…to relax our grasping hands. To listen to the lapping waters and to feel the gentle breeze on our cheeks. To take in the peaceful presence of our Creator God (the One who moves upon the Great Lake).
If we pause long enough a stillness will calm the troubled waters of our anxious souls. A Peaceful Presence will rise up from our interior depths (who knows how?). Speak your/my name. And lighten your/my bundle of overloaded baggage and over burdened hearts.
Be Still.
Quiet your heart.
Let your anxieties go.
As a path into stillness give a listen to Jacob Collier’s song Little Blue.

You know, during Covid, there wasn't as much to do. I do know it was a terrible time for a lot of people. However, I remember thinking, how do I keep this peace when life goes back to 'normal?' Calmness. Not doing as much.
Also, go to the beach all seasons. In the winter, the water definitely has that calmness you speak of. There are so many ways to find stillness. We just need to do something completely different than we usually would. We'll find it.
Thanks
Just beautiful. And the timeliness of such messages
gives me hope in the darkness of a day
